Stockyard Institute
A community arts education program that provides opportunities for collaborative art projects with youth, teachers, artists and residents in underserved Chicago communities such as Back of the Yards, Austin and Rogers Park neighborhoods. Since its inception in 1995, the institute has connected with more than 2,000 students and exhibited projects locally and around the world.

Asia-Pacific Mathematics and Science Education Collaborative
Seeks to catalyze systemic improvement in mathematics and science education through international studies of mathematics and science education. It engages in research dissemination, curriculum and program design, and professional education in collaboration with colleagues and allied organizations of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies, which include Japan, China, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Chile, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.

Center to Advance Education for Adults
Based in DePaul's School for New Learning, the center serves as a venue for researchers and practitioners to study and share the most effective and imaginative strategies for adult student curricula creation and teaching and mentoring for adult learners.

Fred Arditti Center for Risk Management
Promotes excellence in teaching and research in the fields of financial risk management and financial engineering.

Career Center at DePaul
Provides students and alumni with opportunities to connect with employers through internships, co-op positions, entry-level work and full-time employment. The center matches prospective employers with job-seekers through company presentations, online job postings and resume referrals, on-campus interviewing, job and internship fairs, and networking events. Staff provides job-market recruiting and hiring trend information to the media based on empirical data from employers, students and alumni.

Center For Animal Law
Focuses on teaching and analysis of state, national and international legislative and legal matters relating to the rights and welfare of animals including issues involving animal cruelty, animal control and animals in entertainment.

Center for Black Diaspora
Promotes and supports programming, research, and cultural and creative works related to the study of the Black Diaspora. Focuses on the historical and contemporary experiences of people of African descent as well as Africans living around the world - especially those in Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean.

Center for Church/State Studies
Jointly sponsored by the College of Law and DePaul's Office of Mission and Values, the center is a broad-based, nondenominational institute for research and education on matters of religion, society and law.

Center for Community and Organizational Development
Provides consulting and research services related to clinical, community and organizational psychology to not-for-profit, service-oriented, community-based organizations.

Center for Community Research
Supports external research grants that direct scholarship to solve pressing social problems, including research into chronic fatigue syndrome, the Oxford House alcohol recovery program and youth access to tobacco.

Center for Dispute Resolution
Offers certificate courses in mediation, negotiation and arbitration to practicing lawyers and other professionals.

Center for Financial Services
Supports innovative undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate curricula in financial services; sponsors industry forums on financial service policymaking; develops financial literacy programs that benefit the community and provides industry-relevant research about national and international banking and financial service issues.

Center for e-Commerce Research and Mobile Commerce Research Laboratory
Emphasizes research, application, adoption and implementation of Internet and wireless technology for electronic commerce and e-business. Sponsors activities to enhance partnerships between the corporate sector and DePaul in e-commerce and related industry studies. Lab focuses on mobile commerce, particularly on usability and customer relations.

Center for Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology
Advances the study and practice of intellectual property/information technology law. Sponsors a range of training workshops, seminars, conferences and lectures so that lawyers may explore different issues that pertain to this ever-evolving area of law.

Center for Justice in Capital Cases
Provides legal representation to clients charged with capital crimes and serves as a training ground for students interested in working on death penalty cases.

Center for Latino Research
Advances understanding of the Latino experience and contributes to Latino empowerment. Produces publications on Latino life, sponsors research projects, promotes community collaboration, provides student learning opportunities and supports public education programs.

Center for Law and Science
Identifies, collects and analyzes scientific literature, related trial information and appellate reviews of criminal and civil cases that have science issues as important components.

Center for Public Interest Law
Represents individuals, groups and social interests that are traditionally underserved by law and government. Works to end discrimination and inequality based on class, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability. Focuses on areas such as the environment, health care, consumer protection, free speech and voting rights.

Center For Sales Leadership
Offers linkages between students in DePaul’s sales leadership program and potential corporate employers; researches sales organization current practices and student attitudes towards sales careers; and hosts symposia and tailored sales management educational programs for the corporate community.

Center for Strategy, Execution, and Valuation
Oversees innovative education programs, executive seminars and research into corporate governance and business strategy that lead organizations to sustainable high performance. The center links strategy design and development with execution frameworks - such as the balanced scorecard- and value-based management that ultimately leads to the valuation of companies. Focusing on strategic risk management, the center's Corporate Governance and Enterprise Risk Management Initiative conducts ongoing research into high performing companies to identify strategic activities that lead to superior shareholder wealth creation within ethical parameters.

Polk Bros. Foundation's Center for Urban Education at DePaul
Based in the School for New Learning, the center works in partnership with Chicago elementary and high schools to improve curricula and instruction, provide professional development for teachers and principals, and increase parental involvement.

Center for Web Intelligence
Develops intelligence tools, techniques and applications for the World Wide Web, including automatic Web personalization, e-business intelligence, data mining, Web usage and content mining, and intelligent Web agents for information filtering. The goal of the center is to provide a central resource for information in these areas and to promote industry interaction through workshops, joint projects and technology transfer.

Harry F. and Elaine M. Chaddick Institute for Metropolitan Development
Sponsors educational programs and research on effective urban infrastructure, land use, metropolitan development and transportation. Offers planners, attorneys, developers and entrepreneurs a forum to share expertise on difficult land-use issues through workshops, conferences and policy studies.

Coleman Entrepreneurship Center
Outreach and student support center that serves as an extension of DePaul's academic entrepreneurship program. On campus, supports DePaul student-entrepreneurs through extracurricular programs that help them launch and grow entrepreneurial businesses, non-profits, and social ventures. Examples include the Launch DePaul new venture competition and Blueprint, a comprehensive and structured "virtual incubator" program that provides students - both undergraduate and graduate, across all majors - the knowledge, contacts, and experience they need. In the community, aims to improve the quality of life for business owners through outreach programs such as Peer Advisory Roundtables and Business Owner Academy, a selection of continuing education courses. Specialties include peer-to-peer learning, youth entrepreneurship, mentoring, community-building, emerging trends, and entrepreneurship strategy.

Community Music Division
Offers high-quality music instruction for community members of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Enrolls children and adults in after-school, evening and weekend music lessons at DePaul's School of Music. Sixty professional artist-educators teach in the program. Offerings include private lessons, musicianship and instrumental classes, performance ensembles, workshops and student recitals. Certified by the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.

Cultural Center
Serves as DePaul's cultural home by providing a space where students, faculty, staff and the general public can commune and discover the rich contributions that various cultures, races and ethnicities have made to the world. Develops and implements educational and social activities and programming for DePaul's multi-ethnic and multicultural community.

DePaul Family and Community Services
Jointly funded by DePaul and the Illinois Department of Mental Health, the center provides mental health services to children up to age 17 as well as their families who live in the Loop, Near North and Lincoln Park neighborhoods of Chicago. Also provides clinical training for graduate students in DePaul's doctoral clinical psychology program. Services are provided at the center located in Lincoln Park and at a variety of community sites. The schools, children and families of the Cabrini-Green community are a particular focus.

DePaul Labor Education Center
Based in DePaul's School for New Learning, the center provides union members, officers and staff education in labor leadership, covering such topics as organizing, collective bargaining, labor law, labor history, communications, arbitration, health, safety and popular economics. Offers on-site programming to unions, as well as a unique high school instruction designed to teach young people about the contributions of the labor movement to American society. Staff members are experienced labor union advocates and educators.

DePaul Legal Clinic
Operates as a law office providing legal services to the public in the areas of criminal appeals, death penalty defense, technology, intellectual property, immigration, asylum, community development and disability rights.

Richard H. Driehaus Center for Behavioral Finance
Focusing on the psychology of investors and financial markets, the center promotes meaningful research into financial decision-making, especially its human aspect. It provides forums for scholars to explore what constitutes true wisdom in financial decision-making and other issues involving people and money. Supports advanced courses in behavioral finance at the graduate and executive levels.

Richard H. Driehaus Center for International Business
Forges alliances for international business education activities and coordinates international business programs for College of Commerce students and faculty, including exchange programs and foreign business seminars.

The English Language Academy
The English Language Academy, DePaul University’s intensive English program for international students, offers a non-credit certificate program in English with an academic focus. The program prepares students to meet English proficiency requirements for study in degree programs at DePaul and other universities. The ELA has been a member of the American Association of Intensive English Programs since January 2000.

Health Law Institute
Offers educational programs, research and community outreach programs focusing on health care legal issues. Areas of concentration include urban health care access, health policy challenges confronting cities, and federal, state and local government responses to violence, poverty, care for the elderly and epidemic diseases.

DePaul Humanities Center
Serves as a site for discussion and research in the arts and humanities at DePaul. Bringing together faculty, staff, students, scholars, community leaders and artists, the center engages diverse communities in empowering discourses of the humanities. Central to the center's community engagement is the exchange of ideas across disciplines and specializations, the communication of interests and questions to broader publics through active outreach, and the chance to learn from these publics, in turn, by providing a space for voices from outside the academy.

Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence
Advances the use of artificial intelligence technology in business and industry in Northern Illinois. Offers both traditional educational programs and non-traditional programs for professional development and technology access.

Institute for Business & Professional Ethics
Co-founded by DePaul's College of Commerce and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the institute promotes ethics research and education at DePaul, hosts conferences and seminars on current business ethics issues and sponsors outreach programs for businesses and organizations to explore ethical decision-making. The institute's board consists of area business executives and ethics officers.

Institute for Nature and Culture
Fosters collaboration among disciplines and among researchers, conservation practitioners and the general public to address environmental issues. Building on widely respected programs in environmental science, urban ecology and public policy and the university's long-standing commitment to the Chicago community, the institute seeks to provide leadership in the urgent task of setting environmentalism on a new course and to advance the emerging disciplines of urban ecology and environmental restoration pioneered in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Institute for Professional Development
Provides training for individuals and businesses to help them keep pace with rapid computer technology developments. Offers a variety of intensive certificate programs in computer science subjects, including Web development, software development, telecommunications, local area networks and network security.

Interactive Marketing Institute
Partners with the Kellstadt Marketing Center to offer professional continuing education courses in direct and interactive marketing, as well as networking opportunities for marketing professionals. Also develops case studies for marketing classrooms.

Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Center
Develops programs that prepare science educators and students. Areas of emphasis include: coordinating extracurricular activities that enhance the science community at DePaul, such as mentoring, tutoring, workshops and research experiences; supporting the development of a science, mathematics and technology community that is accessible to a diverse group of students and faculty; and providing a variety of activities that promote public understanding of the nature of science, with particular focus on the needs of elementary and secondary teachers.

International Aviation Law Institute
Offers courses in national and global aviation law as well as specialized instruction in aviation antitrust and tort law. The first institute of its kind in the United States, it has academic links with aviation programs at the University of Leyden, the Netherlands, and at the University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

International Human Rights Law Institute
Conducts research in the areas of international criminal justice, including the study of terrorism; development and implementation of guidelines against impunity for international crimes; research into the trafficking of women and children for sexual exploitation; support for the establishment of an international criminal court; and implementation of legal regimes to control the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

International Weapons Control Center
Dedicated to advancing the rule of law to prevent catastrophic violence and nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Promotes international peace and security by offering legal answers to policy problems.

Kellstadt Marketing Center
Offers marketing education programs for non-degree seeking professionals. Builds bridges between the business and academic worlds, serving the marketing knowledge needs of the business community.

Real Estate Center at DePaul

As the Midwest's premier center for real estate education and research, the center supports traditional undergraduate and graduate degree programs in real estate through the Department of Finance as well as continuing education and conferences of specific interest to the real estate industry.

Also part of the center is The Institute for Housing Studies, which encompasses the Affordable Rental Housing Data Clearinghouse and Interagency Council, two Preservation Compact initiatives created by the Urban Land Institute with support from the MacArthur Foundation to track affordable rental housing in Cook County and help coordinate governmental agency response to save this housing. DePaul researchers study affordable rental housing trends using data from city, state and federal agencies and other sources and share their findings with policymakers, affordable housing advocates and the public.

Center for Creativity and Innovation
Offers a variety of programming, workshops, customized training and consultation for individuals, teams and organizations seeking to explore innovative strategies and tools for breakthrough thinking. Provides idea generation techniques for businesses, teaches effective methods for creative problem solving and facilitates professional development for innovation managers. Provides a creative and stimulating space for teams and organizations to hold meetings, retreats or facilitated sessions.

Schiller, Ducanto & Fleck Family Law Center
Focuses on teaching, research, law reform and community service in all areas of family law. Provides expertise on a broad range of legal issues that affect families, including child advocacy, juvenile justice, adolescent health and welfare, education, partnership, marriage, domestic violence, divorce, disability and elder law.

Irwin W. Steans Center for Community-Based Service Learning

Encourages service learning by integrating classroom studies with the work of community-based organizations in Chicago and internationally. Serves as a community resource by utilizing the skills, resources and expertise of DePaul faculty, students and staff to provide assistance to community-based organizations.

In 2009, DePaul’s Egan Urban Center (EUC) became part of the Steans Center. Created in 1979, EUC draws upon the resources of DePaul faculty, students and staff, as well as community partners, to assist neighborhood organizations to address critical urban problems, alleviate poverty and promote social justice through teaching, service and scholarship. Initiatives include community-based research, data analysis, teaching and technical assistance, and community-building activities, with focus on the city’s underserved and marginalized communities.

Vincentian Studies Institute of the United States
Founded in 1979 by the 10 provinces of the Congregation of the Mission (the Vincentians) and Daughters of Charity in the United States, the Institute has been sponsored by DePaul University since 2007. Housed within the Office of Mission and Values, the mission of the institute is to promote a living interest in the historical, spiritual, and heritage of St. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660) and St. Louise de Marillac (1591-1660). The institute produces the journal “Vincentian Heritage,” sponsors the publication of a wide variety of translations and original works in the Vincentian tradition and periodically offers continuing education opportunities and national symposia. In cooperation with DePaul’s John T. Richardson Library, the institute also sponsors a Vincentian research library, special collections, material culture collections, and digitized resources for researchers and members of the Vincentian tradition worldwide. An annual grant program to support Vincentian research is available to qualified scholars.

Women's Center
Provides education, programming, advocacy, networking and referrals involving women's issues for the DePaul community and the community-at-large. Offers a supportive environment for female students, staff, faculty and administrators to express their needs and concerns.
