
Deborah Snow Humiston
Media Relations Specialist
Deborah Snow Humiston manages media relations for DePaul's School of Education, School for New Learning, College of Communication and the DePaul Art Museum. She also works on issues of access to higher education for disadvantaged students at DePaul. She has more than 20 years experience in media relations, journalism and communications. Snow Humiston came to DePaul from Saint Xavier University, where she was assistant director of media relations, serving as liaison between the university and the media. While at Saint Xavier, she won gold and platinum MarCom Awards for her publicity campaigns for stories involving student life and academics. An international awards competition, the MarCom Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. Prior to Saint Xavier, she was a communications specialist at Prairie State College, where she handled strategic media relations initiatives for a variety of clients as part of an award-winning team. In her news career, she was a reporter for the Daily Southtown for more than 13 years, covering a wide range of beats. While at the Southtown, she won a Peter Lisagor Award from the Chicago Headline Club for reporting on housing issues in 1992. She was also a contributing writer for the Chicago Tribune, writing primarily about real estate. Snow Humiston earned a bachelor's degree in photojournalism from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. While at Northern, she worked as a photographer and reporter for The Northern Star student newspaper. She joined DePaul's Media Relations team in 2007.
