Valerie Phillips
Media Relations Specialist

Valerie Phillips has worked as a media relations specialist for DePaul University since 1997. She is responsible for coordinating media coverage for the College of Law. Prior to joining the DePaul staff, she worked for the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois as the public information director responsible for planning and implementing public education and media initiatives. As the spokesperson for the nation's premiere civil liberties advocate, she often found herself at the core of some of the most controversial and debated legal issues of the day.

A recovering journalist, Phillips has worked as a producer for WBBM-TV and as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Reporter. She won a Peter Lisagor Award for Exemplary Journalism in 1987. 

Phillips is a 1982 graduate of Loyola University of Chicago. She earned a paralegal certificate from Roosevelt University in 1989. Phillips earned a law degree from DePaul College of Law in 2006.
