
Robin Florzak
Media Relations Manager
Robin Florzak manages media relations for the College of Commerce and Kellstadt Graduate School of Business and directed the redevelopment of the Media Relations Web site, newsroom.depaul.edu. She brings extensive experience in public relations, print and broadcast journalism to DePaul.
Florzak began her journalism career as a high school student, serving as city editor at New Expression, a citywide 70,000-circulation Chicago monthly for teenagers, and as a writer/on-air host for "Answers," a weekly WLS-AM public affairs program for teens. After earning a bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University, where she was associate editor of the independent student Daily Free Press, she worked for two years at the renowned City News Bureau of Chicago wire service as a police reporter, state government reporter and weekend editor. She left City News to become an assignment editor at WFLD-TV's "Fox News Chicago," earning a Chicago/Midwest Emmy Award in 1992 for her role in planning the station's news coverage of the Great Chicago Flood. Florzak accepted a position as media relations specialist at Children's Memorial Medical Center in 1993, where, among other duties, she assisted with the production of patient television mini-documentaries that were part of the hospital's annual telethon broadcast on WLS-TV.
Florzak joined DePaul's Media Relations staff in 1996. She supervised the production of the 2004 “Media Guide to DePaul Experts,” which won a Golden Trumpet award from the Publicity Club of Chicago and an Award of Excellence from the Public Relations Society of America-Chicago Chapter. She earned an MBA in marketing from DePaul in 2003.
